Trial and Error

During my first day at Lincoln Center I almost felt under dressed. I assumed I looked nice enough.. and left with camera in hand. Little did I know that most of the bloggers would be the best dressed people there.

I am not saying I didn't try to dress differently. I actually did. I wanted to look fairly interesting but not so much to distract from the fashion show attendees. Imagine me wearing a bright red flannel Ralph Lauren shirt, black tank, gold studded necklace and shorts...

and then showing up next to this:

I was obviously not up to their standard. 

I really loved how this girl dressed. It was cool but also dressy. It also looked comfortable enough to take photos in. She paid great attention to detail by accessorizing with touches of black-- ie: sunglasses, hat, toe caps on her shoes. The touch of red lipstick was just the icing on the cake.

I am especially loving the jean jacket. She had remarkable attention to detail--making sure the hardware on the jacket matched the purse.

They showed me how its done. and I am glad I took notes.

Wheel Catchers

Saw these ladies on my first day out to Lincoln Center. It is so surreal to see the beautiful style bloggers, writers, editors, and 'it girls' walk around in such high style--this time in person.. not digitally on my computer in geography class.

Loving the mixture of pattern on the left and color blocking on the right. The cut of the red booties are really sweet too. They make the legs appear longer... and what girl wouldn't love a pair of rockin' long legs?!

I have been seeing a lot of busy collars. I love the shirt-collar/jeweled-necklace/over-blinged choker look. Gives a new way of showcasing your neck and jaw.

In the Wild

While I was meandering around the jagged street ways and abrupt corners of New York during FNO, I found myself walking into the DKNY store in Soho. 

All of the sudden a wild Karlie Kloss appeared.

 It is hard to describe the feeling of seeing someone of Karlie's stature in person for the first time. Being so unbelievably famous to the fashion industry and after being featured in just about every magazine you can think of, she almost felt fictional. It is kinda like seeing an endangered animal for the first time.

Siberian Tigers are real?... I thought they were just made up in my mind....

I am not saying models are like animals. I am trying to say that seeing Karlie in real life stops you in your tracks. You want to analyze her differently now that she isnt the 2-D print or digital version of herself. You want to take in every ounce of beauty that radiates off of her smile and into the room. It is like magic. You don't truely enjoy the experience until you see the allusion of perfect and mystery right in front of your face.


She appeared, what seemed like out of nowhere, wearing a Fashion's night out signature Tee--obviously pre-cut and self styled to her liking-- a slender leather skirt, and rockin' heels. Oh, and let's not forget the lipstick, rose red. blood red.

red. red. red. red.

She seemed to tower over me like a building.. which is actually new to me. I am around 5'10" without heels on and when she walked by I felt short--and I mean REALLY short. Making me realize how tall many models actually are.

It was very shocking to me to see how normal the models were. Before I knew it Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn walked into the boutique. They were casual, not uppity. They walked around the store and mingled with friends, laughing and making fools of themselves just like I would have done on a special night out with my girls. It was just intriguing to see a model in her "natural habitat." ----still gorgeous.. but normal, just like you and me. They couldn't have felt like more of the crowd than the rest of the shoppers walking in and out of the shop. The three ladies  were there for the fun of FNO and I could definitely tell they were enjoying themselves.

Cara is so gorgeous and an absolutely hilarious person. Ask her to make a funny face. She is the definition of expert.

 Karlie was promoting her "Karlie's Kookies." 5$ for a healthy cookie and part of the proceeds go to the FEED foundation.

FNO: Take it to the Streets

This year was my first Fashion's Night Out... and it was absolutely fantastic. I made it to some fabulously chic parties however one of the best parts was seeing the men and women of New York use the sidewalk as their own version of the catwalk. Coming from Wichtia, Kansas.... there is no street style. It is plainly Abercrombie and Hollister...

...and our Hollister does not promote their stores with attractive young shirtless men outside the doors.

Tragic I know. 

Thus, coming to this city has been a dream. 

Here are my favorites from the night.. Fewer than what I would have liked.. but then again I have, what seems like 50 thousand of Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss, Derek Blasberg, and Jourdan Dunn.

Grow a Boyfriend

To everyone who is just finding my blog now. I am in the making of taking the blog towards street style. I have plenty of photos to work with... it is just the time as well as school that is getting in the way of posting! HELLO WORLD

FINALLY MY INTERNET IS WORKINGDSLAFJSDOFLJDSKSXMFE

okay.

It has been a long couple of weeks. I have officially been through my first week of college classes... and I LOVE IT. The past week almost feels like a dream. Besides the fact that I am completely overwhelmed with homework already, I am so happy. It is weird when I find myself studying over my notes because I am completely and utterly interested in the material. 

I am learning about leathers, types of shoes, shoe construction, handbag construction, athletic footwear... The list goes on! Right now I am working on my sketches of a handbag that we are going to make in my Handbag Design and Construction I class this Tuesday. SO STRESSED.

but anyway.

It has been a long week. I went to Central Park and tried to take some street style pics but then I got hungry... and I am still trying to accomplish this whole feeding myself thing. It is very new. Thus, I only have a few satisfactory shots but these are them! I hope you enjoy them.

PS Fashion week starts Thursdayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Which means amazing photos... especially with the Fashions Night Out kickoff! Can't wait,
