I JUST HAD A SASHA MOMENT

Tonight was absolute perfection. Earlier this evening Rachel and I headed from our dorm to the Proenza Schouler show. It was way down town and took us a lot longer to get there than anticipated. By the time we made it to the Park Place stop on the 3 train, I was worried that we were going to have missed most of the action. However.. I would soon realize... this wasn't so.

We met up with some friends at the front entrance and then decided to find ourselves the golden door. The one door that model bloggers dream of. The one labeled: backstage. As we walked down the narrow sidewalk that was covered with scaffolding and surrounded by large equipment trucks, you could hear the loud bass of the catwalk music pounding against the brick walls. We followed down the tunnel of vibrating mortar to find the lovely-labeled-makeshift-plywood-black door right in front of us. The waiting began.

Out of sheer boredom Rachel decided to check Instagram to see if a model board for the show had been posted. We do this at about every show in order to see who was cast and what faces we should be scanning for. It has helped out a lot and gotten us some great photos. Then the most magical moment happened: a photograph of Sasha Pivovarova surfaced. SHE WAS BACKSTAGE. We freaked.

She is not only one of my most favorite models but she is le-gen-dary. She is one of the first models that I fawned over when I was becoming interested in the fashion world. And now she is here? Backstage? I knew that at this point.. nothing else mattered. My one and only mission was find her and see her.

Rachel and I were frantic. We wondered which door she would come out of? Would she come out of the backstage door? Or the front which would be half a block away? Us and our new friends that we had made outside previous shows were all watching--scanning the groups of people that would sporadically file through that black backstage door. Looking for her.

"THAT'S HER!" I am running. She decided to walk in the opposite direction of where I was standing. In a panic I decided to duck under the scaffolding bars and run down the street alongside traffic. The huge equipment trucks were in the way! I needed to get to the end of the truck line before she did! Luckily I did. She was everything I had hoped for. She was sweet and kind--smiling for the cameras with her child. The only words that I could manage to fly out of my mouth were, "You are so gorgeous!" "Thank you" She replied softly with a smile.

I died.

The end.

I love how models dress. It just looks easy and clean.

"When you said trekking to Kenneth Cole you were wrong."

THIS was trekking. After our lovely breakfast at Jack's Wife Freda Paulina, Rachel and I made our way to the Prabal Gurung. The snow that had built up from the previous night was ridiculous  The sidewalks were packed. We had to walk through mounds of snow ankle and sometimes calf deep. Somehow we made it to the venue in time for a few late arrivals.

Can someone please identify this beautiful man for me?

More like SNOW-HO AHA (it's not that funny)

Woke up this morning with the girls and headed downtown for some brunch in Soho! We tried this little place called Jack's Wife Freda and it was DELICIOUS. I highly recommend the little nook. It's affordable and the service there is so friendly!

After we made our way to Prabal Gurung--pictures to come later. Now sitting and blogging from a Starbucks downtown. 5:00 is Alexander Wang! Can't wait!

We Just Walked Inside

Today we started off the evening with a trip to the Rag & Bone show venue. The only way I can describe it is that it was absolutely freezing-body-aching-cold. The snow flakes were huge and matted down on top of my bag and shoulders. It sounds like a winter wonderland hell but it wasn't too bad. Paulina and I put plastic bags around our cameras and went to work. I came out of the storm with a couple of nice photos.

Following the show we made a pit stop into a Dunkin Donuts for napkins to dry our cameras and warmth. We stayed there in the building for 45 minutes and then left for Helmut Lang. As we finally arrived to the venue--after accidentally jumping into an ankle deep puddle that iced over and looked like ground--we found that there was a plastic tent-like entry way into the gallery. A little while passed and soon the interns and PR people left the doorway...... We decided to walk right into the heated entryway which maybe turned out to be one of our best decisions. We had a direct view of the entire runway show. As the show started and the lights filled the stark white platform I almost had a heart attack. My first fashion show live in front of my eyes. Tomorrow the girls and I are waking up early to go and have a breakfast (probably more like brunch because we are sleep whores) in Soho and then a little shopping before heading off to Prabal Gurung. Afterwards we will have Alexander Wang and then a concert (Timeflies) if it isn't canceled because of this crazy northern storm! Long day ahead of us but couldn't be more ready. Looking forward to posting tomorrow!
